Well we all know the basics of Paris, some I’ve listed below, but consider that there is more to Paris than just the standard postcard norms.
Eiffel Tower

The rest
The three listed above are definite the big three of Paris, but what about the other random things the City of Light has to offer?
Montmartre
Don’t be afraid to get lost in the sloped streets of Montmartre. The Paris Metro is magnificent however if you take the Metro to Montmartre, take the elevator. Only tourists are stupid enough to take the stairs. Such a rookie mistake found me bordering on a heart attack as I wound my way up the never ending spiraling staircase of 200+ steps.
Sacré-Cœur
Venture up to Sacré-Cœur basilica, take the automatic railway Montmartre funicular for the 90 second journey up the hill or if you’re brave (or very fit!) climb the 300+ steps to the top.
Cost saving tip, you can use your Navigo card on the funicular.
I took the funicular on the way up and the stairs on the way down. Best of both worlds!
Wander Paris
Paris is a huge city. Places are further than you think they’ll be so if you plan to see a lot on foot, wear good walking shoes. There are plenty of photo opportunities as you meander through the city and cross as many of the 37 bridges as you can.
The Pont des Arts bridge with it’s love locks from lovers around the globe was removed in June 2015. For decades, wanderlusting lovers have come here to put a lock on the bridge and throw the key in the Seine. Venture here to pay homage to the 45 tonnes of padlocks removed.
Keen on history?
If you need some more history, venture out to Les Invalides where you will find the gold topped dome under which there’s the interred tomb of Napoleon Bonaparte for viewing. Its possible to spend hours on the audio tour and wondering throughout the museum and gardens.
