Is Christmas meant to be white?

Christmas… It’s a funny thing, an odd tradition of no religious significance to some, and holiest of holy for others. I’ve spent it subconsciously associating it with sunshine, prawns and that smell of sea soaked air. So travelling across the globe to experience a white Christmas is one of fairy tales.

I spent all those years spent watching Disney parade idealism of a northern hemisphere Christmas as one of snow-filled parks and homes with roaring log fires.  So the closest I got to a “white Christmas” was at the airport so I felt somewhat robbed of my fairytale I’d built up.

On the +, Prague was great, Christmas markets in the streets with mulled wine, plenty of street food of chicken skewers on a roll or a sausage with sauce but I can’t help but think is a part of Christmas that’s just missing.

Waking on Christmas morning, we took presents to open (albeit not under a tree) so it wasn’t that. I think it’s simply the distinct lack of heat & sun.
