Updated April 2023. We love visiting Poland and it remains to this day, even after living in the UK for 10 years, it’s only European country that we’ve visited three times in a single year! We love the food, the people, the culture, and the sheer amount of history on offer around every corner. And not to mention, it’s a very affordable to visit too. We’ve had fantastic trips to Warsaw, Poznan, Krakow, and Gdansk so far and there is no doubt that more trips will be on the cards in the very near future. During our city breaks to Poland, we rely on the Jakdojade app as the easiest and most reliable way for catching public transport in Poland.
If you’re heading to Poland for the first time and a little concerned about how to get from Point A to Point B on public transport then you need to down a free app, jakdojade.pl.
Jakdojade.pl App
The jakdojade.pl app is an fantastic public transport app which provides detailed directions for the majority of cities in Poland. It’ so easy to use that it became the one app that we relied upon daily to get us to the next destination.
Since it is a mobile app you will need an Android, Windows or iOS smartphone and an active data connection. Have a look at our post on how to get a local SIM card with 6GB of data.
Why is it better than Google Maps?
Google Maps is generally my go-to app for most transport and travel questions but I did find that during our travels that the information about public transport was a little sparse with not all transport options available and it was a little unreliable with phantom services and finding the most appropriate route, this is which is what led me to seeking an alternative and how we found Jakdojade and now it’s my first port of all when relying on public transport in Poland.
Why should you download the Jakdojade.pl app?
Reason 1: Supported Cities
Jakdojade.pl supports a number of Polish cities. When starting the app for the first time you can choose the city you’re in from a list of supported places. This is really helpful because you know if the city you’re in is supported. We used the app successfully in Poznan, Warsaw, and Krakow without an issue
Reason 2: Directions
When travelling and in need of directions, the quicker and easier the better. Like with most transport apps you enter your starting point and destination and the app works out the rest. In an easy to read format and 7 options to choose from, you can tell from a glance which one is going to the best option for you.
In the image below, you can see that the 227 bus is the next bus which departs in 10 min so it’s a 10 min walk from our starting point, then a 12 min bus ride, and finally a 2 min walk to our destination.
Reason 3: The Extra Info
Another benefit of using the Jakdojade.pl app is the extra information that it provides to its users – extra information like settings an alarm to remind you to start your journey and the ticket price. The ticket price is extremely useful when using the ticket machines and unsure of which option to select.
So using the previous example, I’ve decided to take the 227 bus to Warsaw Central and want to see the route info, I simply tap on the route to see the below;
And once you get on your bus/tram then the app automatically tracks your journey on the map so you can tell which stop to get off at. How simple is that?
How to install the app?
There’s no special trick, you simply access Google Play or the App Store, do a search for “jakdojade” and install it just like any other app or use the links below. This is what is looks like on an Android device.
A million downloads is a pretty good indication that it’s a good app, right? And that’s it, you’re on your travel travelling through Poland knowing how to get from point A to point B with minimal effort and no stress.

Hi Can I ask please if you have bought tickets thru the App or if you buy them direct from train station? We are going to Poland in August and travelling round and I plan on using the App to get around and buy the tickets, however I’ve read that you have to buy your ticket immediately before you use it and not earlier on in the week or month. Do you know if this is the case please, as this will make the tickets more expensive than if we buy them 60days before we travel. Your help and advice is much appreciated Many thanks Kate
Hi, Kate. Great news about your upcoming trip to Poland! You must be getting really excited. We purchased tickets via the Jakdojade app however this was a few years ago so I’ve just had a look at the Warsaw Public Transport website and Jakdojade is still listed as an app to purchase mobile tickets. https://www.wtp.waw.pl/en/where-to-buy-a-ticket/ticket-by-mobile/ In terms of purchasing tickets in advance, we purchased ours whilst waiting at the bus stop and didn’t have any issues. I hope this helps but if you’d like a little more help then dropping the tourism office a quick message for the most up to date info before your August trip might be helpful too. We hope you have an absolutely amazing time!!
