In case you’ve been living under a rock or hibernating from airline alliances, there’s been some movement in the last week or two.
oneworld is spreading its wings and welcoming new members into the family by expanding its membership. LAN Columbia and Brazil’s TAM Airlines join oneworld as airlines affiliate members.
The newest full member to the oneworld alliance is Qatar Airways. Holding a World 5-star Airline Rating from Skytrax and one of the world’s largest growing airlines, Qatar opens 15 new destinations to the oneworld conglomerate.
Established in 1997, this Doha based airline has quickly established itself among the big boys of the skies, winning Skytrax’s Airline of the Year for 2 consecutive years, 2011 and 2012, and runner-up for 2013 just behind its Emirati neighbour, Emirates.
If you’d like to benefit from the celebrations, then now is the time. As a part of the celebration, oneworld is offering a double miles promotion for frequent flyers.
An added bonus for members of Qatar Airways’ loyalty programme, Privilege Club, will receive double Qmiles rewards on specific flights and dates.
