I don’t know about you but I just love accidentally stumbling across local street art during the course of a day exploring a new city. It might be the element of surprise that I love so much, never intending to go seek them out but when we do find them, they tend to just capture our imagination.
And that’s exactly what happened during our recent visit to Georgia! We spent some time deciding where to go in Tbilisi and it was on our way to somewhere else that we stumbled across some sensational street art. We spent a good deal of time admiring the artistic expression of local artists responsible for the below street art in Tbilisi.

Where to Find Street Art?
Ok, I understand that not everyone will have the time to just wander around the city for days at a time until accidentally finding street art so here’s the breakdown of where to go to see some of my favourite pieces below;
Fabrika Hostel
Easily one of the hippest parts in Tbilisi is Fabrika.
Part ho[s]tel, part co-working space, equipped with artist studios, independent shops, cafe and bars, Fabrika was a former sewing factory during the days of the Soviet Union. Fabrika has undergone a transformation and is now THE urban hotspot, for locals and travelers alike. It has a striking “old-meets-new” attitude, the place oozes genuinely cool urban vibes blended with funky industrial elements.
We’d recommend stopping inside for a coffee and a social media pit-stop before heading outside to revel in the world of street art. We spent a good hour or so enjoying the many works of art and maybe even taking a selfie or two (ok, more like twenty…).

Not Far From Fabrika
Located near the intersection of Ivane Javakhishvilli St and Giorgi Mazniashvilli St is one of my favourite pieces of street art from Gagosh. The message is clear and one that most of us can agree with.
The Underpass
Located just outside the Tbilisi Puppet Museum is the Baratashvili Bridge Underpass which is definitely worthwhile taking a walk through because it’s home to some creative street art pieces. One aspect I really enjoyed about the below street art is that it was sponsored by the City Hall in an effort to reinvigorate parts of the city.

Final Thoughts
If you’re planning a visit to Tbilisi then we’d recommend setting aside some time to go and explore the creative expression of local artists. Of course, that’s in-between immersing yourself in Georgia’s rich history, traditions like the Sulphur Baths, sampling the delicious delicacies, and admiring the various architectural styles on display throughout the city.
Happy Travels!
Looks like a very colorful city with a lot of personality! Thanks for the Google map, that is SUPER helpful to find these cool spots 🙂
Thanks so much for the comment, Jess 😊 I definitely hear you loud and clear, colourful is a wonderful description. Here’s hoping the Google maps makes it nice and easy for some street art sightseeing 💕
The street art in Tbilisi is pretty rad. I even helped with one or two pieces when I was there. 😉 There’s also a nice collection in the underpasses around Heroes Square.
Fun fact about the city sponsored art though — many of the places they choose to paint are chosen specifically to cover political or controversial street art that’s already there. The govt understands the appeal of street art, but they are veeeeery interested in what is created. Gagosh is a prime example of political street art that’s unwanted by city hall.
Thanks so much for the comment, Amy! That’s really interesting about the monitoring of the street art deemed controversial and the sponsored artwork. Thanks for the insight 👍 Love that you left your mark when you visited ✊
